What To Expect
So, we all know most girls don’t grow up hoping to be a sex worker someday. They dream of being fashion designers, dancers, and photographers. Not that any little girl would think of being an accountant or a secretary. But, needless to say, it’s not the kind of job that would show up at your career fair nor will you find it mentioned under lists such as “top 10 jobs for 2020”.
For online sex workers “get a real job” is a generic comment you can find under any number of posts. And at a club, you may hear something along the lines of “What are you doing here, you’re too good for this” or “I can help you find a better job” on a daily basis. Some may not even consider sex work a job at all or another common misconception: it’s easy money.
People (particularly men) think you need to be “rescued” from a life in the sex industry. There’s a stereotypical belief that sex workers are either there unwillingly or that they are there out of pure desperation and have to turn to “indecent exposure” just to pay the bills. And while this can be true in some cases, this does not fit a healthy number of women in the field. No one ever stops to think, hey, maybe she actually LIKES what she does…. And this is where my blog comes in!
We will cover real life, first-hand experiences, of the good bad, and ugly. Do you dare dive in deeply? If so, keep an eye out for posts filled with titillating stories and lessons learned.
*disclaimer: this is not a manual. The blog is based on first-hand experiences. Accounts, perspectives, and experiences will differ for everyone.
